And God Did Shake the Pear!
A Live Theater event by Scott Cox!
$16.99 per person (prepayment required).
Dr. Scott Cox, Chair of the Benedictine College Department of Theater and Dance, is the founder and director of Living Shakespeare, a rehabilitative theater program at Lansing Correctional Facility. Scott believes that The Bard has answers to almost any question one can pose on the subject of life. In this solo performance, he combines the one-man show he has been performing for 12 years with inspirational and humorous anecdotes from “inside the walls”. Prepare to be entertained, educated and enlightened—and there may even be puppets. There will definitely be pears!
This show was originally presented at Kansas City’s 2018 Fringe Festival where it was one of the most well-attended shows. It won “Best of Venue” and received an extended performance run at the Johnson County Public Library. Here is your chance to see the show that KC audiences were raving about (see below for some reviews).

“This show is one of my top favorites by far. I laughed. Hard. Not just a snicker, an actual guffaw. The quality of this show stands alone above the rest. What a performance!” – Lauren Caldwell
“I am not a Shakespeare fan, but maybe, just maybe, Scott has changed my mind. The performance I attended gave him a richly deserved standing ovation. This is the very best hour I have spent so far at Fringe, and I have seen quite a few incredible shows so far. Go see this!” – Carol Kaiser Zimmerman
“5 Stars! Watching Scott Cox is thrilling. Comedically and dramatically he is an enormous talent. And he delivers an inspiring message, too.” – Rebecca Smith
“Fabulous show. Scott Cox charms the audience. His performance is compelling. This is a do not miss show. “ – Mary A. Redmond
“It's a show about many things--Shakespeare, bellyfat, and mermaid milk, for starters--but above all else it is an opportunity to watch a man of wit, passion, and a rare sweetness walk back into his own heart and call it home again. I watched it without knowing that I could use a such a reminder, a reminder of who I am and what I'm doing, oddly refracted through the prism of who he is and what he's doing, as he puzzles through his own life and mind, but I walked out with a truer sense of self than I came in with, and that is the highest praise I know how to render. Well, I also laughed so hard the room spun a couple times, which ain't bad, either.” – Dalton Mobley
Live theater and wine -- what a great way to spend a Saturday evening!
