FAQS AND COMMON QUESTIONS
How do things work at Riverwood?
First-Come-First-Served for seating and service! If you’re purchasing, everything is ordered in the Tasting Room – we do not have table-service or wait-staff.
(Why is this? It’s because we actually aren’t a restaurant; we’re a winery through and through. Having extremely delicious food available is just a nice bonus, and we’ve gradually developed such impressive ways of serving it that you might think we were a restaurant.)
What sort of food and drink do you offer?
Our kitchen is overflowing with bistro items: flatbread pizzas, charcuterie boards, and savory appetizers like hummus, olives, pickles, and toasted pecans.
Our bars offer wine by the tasting, glass, or bottle, whiskey by the shot, cocktails, beer, soda, and mocktails. We often have specials for different weekends – check in with us for our current menu highlights!
How do tastings work?
Regular wine and whiskey tastings are done at our Tasting Room bars; there’s no option to reserve these ahead of time, we invite you to join us wherever you like. If you want a reserved tasting, ask to be put in touch with our event coordinator for our special private seated tasting!
(Note: this is available only for groups of 6 or more, but if you’d like an exception made for a special situation just ask and we’ll see what we can do.)
Do I need to make a reservation?
Usually no, because we actually don’t do reservations. Groups of 9 or less are welcome to come as walk-ins. If you are bringing a group of 10 or more just let us know you’re coming ahead of time so we can make sure to prepare. If you’re bringing a group of 25 or more, ask to be put in touch with our Event Coordinator to reserve space!
I’m not a group of 25 or more, but I want space reserved. What are my options?
The only option we have that will absolutely assure you of having space set aside for groups of any size is to rent it. We’ll always do our best to make sure you have your pick of seating whether you’ve rented space or not, but if you want to go ahead and rent space, ask to be put in touch with our Event Coordinator!
Is there more to do than just tasting? What events do you offer?
Always. We offer live music every weekend, all weekend long, so at the very least you can relax and enjoy a performance at least once on Fridays through Sundays (except during our winter hours). We also hold monthly events and seasonal festivities, so check in on our event calendar to plan a visit!
Do you allow pets?
We emphatically do, although we do request the privilege of offering pats where possible. We do ask that they stay outside on a leash or in a carrier of some kind to make sure other customers have their own space – but our outdoor area is spacious enough for running and play.
Are kids allowed?
Absolutely! While we obviously can’t serve them the good stuff, we have lots of options for anyone who’s unable to have (or uninterested in) our alcohol, and if they’re interested in the science behind our craft, we welcome fellow inquisitive minds.
Do you ship your wines?
Yes-and-no – we ship to some states but can’t ship to others. To have wine shipped, you’ll need to visit our website and click on the link on our page dedicated to the wine-list. Here’s the list of 37 states we can ship to: AK, AZ, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MN, MO, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY.
Are your wines available in stores?
We’re working on this! Currently we sell select wines to select stores, primarily Hyvee’s in Kansas City, MO, and St. Joseph, MO. As of right now the only place you can find all Riverwood Wines for sale is at our winery itself.
Do you offer tours?
Not at this time, but always feel free to ask us any questions about our craft and facilities!
I don’t see my question here.
we’re always happy to answer questions. Give us a call for any questions or curiosities you have that we haven’t addressed here!
